Headlight Restoration

Headlight restoration is the affordable alternative to headlight replacement. Headlight restoration involves cleaning, sanding, and polishing your headlight lens to remove contamination, then applying a clear protective coating to keep your headlights looking and performing like new. When properly executed, the headlight restoration process will restore the original lighting performance of the headlight and improve the cosmetic appearance.

Headlight restoration or replacement?

Headlight replacement requires the removal of your headlights, while headlight restoration does not. The cost associated with the replacement + labor of your headlights at the dealership can cost you between $400 to $1800, depending on the vehicle.

Headlight restoration means safety.

Depending on the severity of the deterioration, discolored headlights reduce the effectiveness of your lighting system creating an unsafe environment for the occupants in your vehicle. Properly restored headlights make your lighting system look and work like new!

How long does a headlight restoration take?

In most cases, a headlight restoration can be completed in one to two hours. The clear protective coating applied to the lens should cure for one additional hour. Full cure takes about one day so please do not wash or wax your vehicle for 24 hours after your appointment.

What causes headlights to deteriorate?

Most new headlights are made of polycarbonate rather than glass. While there are advantages of using polycarbonate, there is also one major drawback. Over time pollution, humidity, acid rain, cleaning chemicals, salt, road debris, and sunlight all contribute to the oxidation of the protective coating placed on the lens by the manufacturer. In extreme cases, the oxidation will completely deteriorate the original protective coating and damage the surface of the lens itself.
